It was a kick to finally see them, since I never had before. They sounded great, pretty much just like the records do. Now that they've basically returned to action it didn't feel like a big event, more like just a good touring band playing a show. And I went by myself, and the rest of the audience seemed to be married couples about my age, you know, people I would naturally be friends with but don't know from Adam. So I didn't wait around for the encore. I got on my bike and went to see my sax player's gig with his all-white afrobeat band. They were both good and ridiculous. They kept singing in African and I couldn't shake the feeling that they were just making it up.
